What is Stained Glass?
Stained Glass is a unique colorful single player puzzle game. The object is to remove the colored glass tiles from the playing field. The game ends when there are no more legal moves or there is only one tile left.
The Colors
There are three primary colors in Stained Glass:
| Red | , Blue | , and Yellow |
Secondary colors are the combination of any two primary colors:
| Red + Blue = | Purple | |
| Blue + Yellow = | Green | |
| Red + Yellow = | Orange |
Gray, the tertiary color, is a combination of all three primary colors:
| Red + Blue + Yellow = | Gray |
How do I remove tiles?
You remove tiles by jumping over them.
Select a colored tile by clicking on it, or by moving the flashing colored box to the tile and use the "select" command. (You may press spacebar or the center key on the numeric keyboard to use the "select" command.) If the selected tile has any valid moves, black arrows will appear on the tile indicating which directions it may jump.
A tile can only jump over another tile if the second tile includes all the colors in it. The only exception is that a primary color may jump another primary to remove it. For example, a blue tile can jump over red, yellow, blue, green, purple, and gray tiles, but cannot jump over an orange tile. A purple tile may only jump over purple or gray tiles.
To jump, select any of the outlined tiles. Selecting any other tile will cancel the move. The color of the jumping tile will be removed from the tile it jumps over. The color will be added to the tile it lands in
| For example, a yellow tile jumps over an orange tile and lands on a blue tile. | ||||
| 1: The space the Yellow tile started in will become empty. |
|
|||
| 2: Yellow will be removed from the orange (red and yellow) tile, leaving it red. |
|
|||
| 3: Yellow will be added to the blue tile making it green. |

Challenge Level
The original Stained Glass game had one additional rule: A tile can not land on another tile containing it's colors, unless it is an identical tile. What does that mean? A blue tile can land on any primary color, an empty space, or an orange tile but not green, purple, or gray. An orange tile can only land on empty, orange or blue tiles. The dread gray tile can only land in an empty space or on another gray tile!
BYOND Stained Glass starts in easy mode, allowing tiles with the smae colors to mix together. A red tile and an orange tile make orange. Orange and gray make gray. There are no "shades of gray" in Stained Glass.
You may use the original rules for added challenge by toggling the challenge level to hard before moving any pieces. Click the icon with the flag on mountain peaks, or use the "challenge" verb to toggle the challenge level.
